Mark Fiore er margverðlaunaður teiknimyndahönnuður og vann m.a. Pulitzerverðlaun fyrir pólitískar ádeiluteiknimyndir sínar árið 2010. Þessa teiknimynd gerði hann í síðustu viku í tilefni af andláti Aylan Kurdi snáðans sem rak á land á strönd Bodrum í Tyrklandi. Dauði Aylan hefur orðið nokkurskonar táknmynd flóttamanna sem nú streyma til Evrópu. Stærstu þjóðflutningar síðan í síðari heimsstyrjöld.
Teiknimyndin ber heitið ‘Tragic Numbers’ og Mark biður okkur um að deila myndinni því að umræða hafi áhrif.
Tragic NumbersWith the publication of the incredibly powerful photograph of Aylan Kurdi, the boy who drowned while fleeing the fighting in Syria, let’s hope the world pays attention to that awful war for more than one news cycle. Aylan has become the symbol of the current refugee crisis, the largest mass migration since World War II.
